Hi, I’m Nghi

I have over 20 years of experience supporting young people and adults in community mental health, trauma counselling, critical incident & emergency response and tertiary student support & wellbeing.

I am a first generation Vietnamese Australian, navigating life in the suburbs of Brisbane as a culturally diverse child of the 1980’s era. My own family’s migration experience influenced and shaped the person that I am today; the challenges of developing my own identity within cultural and familial expectations, feeling and looking different.

The ability to be an attentive listener comes naturally. I was the quiet observer, paying attention to the details often overlooked. It was a natural progression to study psychology, counselling and then social work. Psychology taught me the foundations to understand the mind and human behaviour, counselling the underpinnings of talk therapy and social work how we all interact within a system, from the wider community to the single person. The three disciplines supported and strengthened my understanding of the individual nestled at the centre, never separate. That is how I work from the holistic framework.

Sometimes we are a puzzle onto ourselves. Having a deep listening space provides a way of bringing all the pieces of the puzzle together, by getting in touch with what's true and real. That is my guiding principle of helping others uncover their unique authentic self. It is a privilege to offer this integrative process of transformation.
